Powers been flickering on and off.

Made it to Crivitz and shacked up at the Best Western on the trail. About six rigs with trailers parked in the lot. Piles are big from older snow along with what looks to be about 4 inches from tonight.

Can hear them whining outside tonight, but we're fine dining on microwaved pizza bagles, easy mac and lasagna.

We'll see what tomorrow brings. Cousin's new gopro should document things well for us.

So far I have been good. Praying it stays that way.

Just a constant roar outside and then it sounds like a 747 jet on top of my house when the gusts hit.

Went out to measure at 8:15 - 5" on the grill that sits in the shade.. 4.25" avg on the grass.. 3.5" on driveway. I need a snow board but there is really no good place for it when windy.. 2 decent wet snows in a row is something rare for here.

just ripping up there in northern lower. gonna need lots of extra clothes, a long track, shovel, chainsaw, and pain pills for after the romp for sledding up there right now. good thing its probably a zoo up there and sleds should pack it down good becuase grooming wont be happening and will be useless.

First warning of the winter.. only two times has mke gone a winter without issuing one. I think they said 1975 and 1983 were the two.

Looks like 5" officially at MKE.. Totals across the board right around the 4-8" predicted.. A solid job by them..

Gaylord getting pummeled right now it looks like.

Glad to see you made it up safe, Kev! Hope you have a great weekend with minimal whoopties on the trails. Be safe and keep on eye out for the bad company on the trails that will surely be out.

I'm going to roll with 5" also. measured 5.5" on the grill and just shy of 4.5" on the grass. driveway stayed right at 3.5" would have loved more but not a bad quickie event at all especially considering how warm it was before and during the event.

Bed time for me!

I think you got the > sign mixed up but I get the idea. I live right by an old swingset that's creaking like crazy, and I'm also right by a big forest area with all these bare leafless trees swaying and snapping.....i'm in a ghost story.

Ah, I thought you were trying to say its old so its creaking a lot or something. I realize now that saying its over 10 years wouldn't make it old at all though...

LP is over the open water of lake huron now and there aren't any buoys I can find in the area so I can't get any surface observations, but it's probably sub 980mb by now.

So far we have gusted to 55mph, me and a co-worker have counted at least 8 powerflashes in the distance and the power just went out and back on to half the airport including the terminal I am in... long nights for the loss :(

Looks like we got about 11 inches here....Im sure avg depth is now 25-30". Cant wait to get into the woods. Looks like Traverse City region was the winner with around 14" (and one 16" report). Still, considering they only had a few inches on the ground before...I think Gaylord/Grayling is THE spot to be right now. Trees are UNBELIEVABLE! Will be out playing all day :)

Damage to my house due to the wild winds. Gutters got peeled away in the NW side of the roof.
Checked in with my neighbors in Elk Rapids about the situation up there and was told well over a foot of heavy wet snow. Not gonna lie I'm gonna be pissed if I have to drive 4 hours to snow rake the roof. Lol.

Thanks weatherpsycho....it seems like its closer to 11" here (as of an hour ago at least) than the 12.5", BUT Im basing that on their being 10.5-11.2" on top of my car and about 13" in the parking lot that had a 2" base. But the snow is so heavy and compact (would NOT want to shovel this lol), and I dont have a cleared snowboard, I totally believe the 12" reports.

Just 2 pics from out the door. Gorgeous. Now off to play, will post more probably tonight! Probably going to be a workout to wade through the DEEP, DENSE snow, but Im ready! Who needs snowshoes lol? Theres about 6-10" more ON THE GROUND here than TOTAL FALL since Nov in Minneapolis of nearly the exact same latitude. I do not want to come home tomorrow night lol.

Go ahead Adjos! Love to share pics. Send me a link too.

I estimate total fall of snow to be around a foot where Im at. Had up to 12.4" on my cartop but I think a tiny bit of roof blowoff played into it. Did a ton of measurments in the parking lot and Id say a foot is a good estimate. Generally 13-14" lay in undisturbed areas where there was a solid 2" base pre-storm...but you have to account for a tiny bit of settling, 6 hr measurments, etc. As for ranking this storm, its up there but I wouldnt necessarily say its my all-time fav, as Ive now seen FIVE storms between 10-12" that featured thundersnow lol. BUT the conditions (30" snowpack, trees plastered) are the best Ive ever experienced, even moreso than when I went to Paradise in 2008 when the snow was deeper but not plastering all the trees.

Went for a walk towards the woods, absolutely GORGEOUS and the snow was insanely deep to walk through. Depth ranged from 22-32", tho Id say 25-30" is a good average. It is so dense, I started thinking of how they said they had to saw paths in Detroit after April 6, 1886. Woman at the motel said shes never seen a snow this deep be this heavy/wet/scenic. Deepest theyve had in a few years, theyve had deeper in the past but its usually more powdery. Tons of people lost power and trees falling everywhere, actually was too scared to go INTO the woods. I was actually doing a panoramic vid when a tree fell. Taking a TON of pics will upload later!

On the clipper side of the storm last night, very nice and surprising totals in much of central Illinois from the latest batch of wet snow. Apparently Springfield has officially recevied 2.8 inches from this clipper, with the Lawrence County community of Birds the winner as of now at 3.2 (and Effingham not too far behind at 3.1 inches). ILX area storm totals:

http://www.crh.noaa....on=1&glossary=0

The State Journal-Register is also reporting some accidents in central Illinois as a result of the wet snow last night, including several vehicles in the ditch off I-55 (and one on I-72) plus an accident involving a tractor-trailer on the interstate south of ILX:

http://www.sj-r.com/breaking/x1785609084/Slippery-area-roads-cause-accidents

I was out in the snow about 6PM last night and at that point it wasn't too bad if you were careful, but so many other drivers were not, IMO.

Just wanted to add a note for the Louisville area for this storm... we received about 4" in New Albany... pretty amazing all things considered. I was driving down I-71 from Cincinnati (max speed 55 near Cincy, 50 on average, slowed down to near 40 near Louisville) during the brunt of it and saw several people off in ditches. It was pretty crazy. I did get aggravated at Louisville drivers when the were going 15-25 on 64 when they had a clear path in front of them... sigh.
