Holy hell, I'd pay money to see 2" diameter flakes for awhile. Interesting to see what happens as it nears northern IL and this area.
3" is impressive if its legit.

And we have a lightning strike right in the heart of the QC. Fantastic.
Flake size here is already quite nice.

I had a brief period of thundersnow at around 1025-1030. Snowed like holy heck for a while...nice fat flakes, and as soon as it came it was gone. have since flipped back to a light misty rain.

Snow, small flakes here in Verona, 10 mi south and west of Madison. Very pretty because it looks like it's pouring down in the street lights. Had to look twice to see if it was rain or snow. Ground is whitened; cars are covered. Roads don't look bad yet...heading out to the gym in a few minutes so I'll be finding out first-hand...

the little while it snowed here in the mid 30's it stuck to the roads so it must have come down pretty decent.. Dam radar looks like its ripping decent for another hr or so to the north where im heading ice fishing.. guess I'll get a delayed start as rush hr and snow is for the unfortunates going to work.

Surprised to find a coating this morning. Stuck to the roads and everything too. I mean only about an inch (on the grass), but still more than I was expecting.

Everybody in Michigan is all snow so far.
In fact, Ann Arbor is below freezing with 1/4 mile visibilities.

Was honestly surprised to open my shade to snow falling very nicely now, huge flakes, and sticking a bit. This is now day #37 with snow falling this season believe it or not (day #22 of measurable snow), but this ones lasting quality will be probably an hour lol.

Snowing cats and dogs. Nice rates too. 1inch per hour is a good guess. Too bad it will last for a massive 45 mins.

Nice surprise today. I haven't been paying attention to this system and now we are getting <0.5 mile visibilities.

Dewpoints appear to be lower than forecasted, so wet bulbing is effectively doing the job.
Most should still probably see some rain by the end of the day, even per the surprising cooler RUC.

This likely qualified for the 3rd most intense snowfall of the winter. It's effectively ripping out there. I'm down to about 1/4 mile. I think some fog has rolled in under the precipitating clouds thus lowering the visibility even more.
